What can I expect from a class?

General

General classes are 1 and a half hours long. They are open to all abilities and are taught in a way that most could follow, every student will get something from the class. If you are new to yoga but have a reasonable level of general fitness or you are returning to yoga after a break you should be comfortable in this class.

If you are more experienced then this is definitely the class for you. It will contain more challenging postures than the basics class, including inversions where appropriate, and postures are held for longer periods to allow the development of stamina, strength, and yogic awareness. This class also introduces elements of yoga philosophy and pranayama (breathing techniques for meditation and relaxation).

Beginners and basics

These classes are shorter than general classes at 1 hour. They are suitable for absolutely any level of ability. The content will be simple (but certainly not patronising, boring, or without challenge!) and the poses will be held for shorter periods to allow you to build your stamina and understanding. My teaching is always flexible to those attending on the day.

While this is not a therapy class designed to address specific ailments, if you have particular aches and pains or feel you are 'very' stiff then perhaps this is the best place for you to start. Having said that, everyone can benefit from going back to basics sometimes so all are welcome
